INES KUHN — PRINCIPAL, CREATIVE DIRECTOR DESIGN

Pretty much to the day, 10 years ago, I decided to start my own business. Fueled by youthful exuberance, I decided to do away with all the concerns and constraints that seemed to be prevalent in other agencies and bring design to the world. I am sure this is how many businesses start. Lucky for me this is how our story starts. The story of how an idea and love for what you do can create success. A story that is needed in all we do. The story that draws from the past, gives us a present and a future and tells us where we stand in time.

My life always had a lot of stories:

One Thousand and One Nights: Originally from Germany, my family already had a great interest in writing their own story and moved to Tehran, Iran. This was during the Shah years and Tehran was said to be like Paris. I preferred the back yard at the time but was surrounded by different culture, fashion, habits and language.

Momotarro: After a stint back in Germany, we sailed off to Tokyo, Japan. Speaking of a different world! I came to see and appreciate the writing – I learned to write and to read Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana. The idea of zen – whether it was in martial arts, the tea ceremony, or in the appreciation of the natural beauty in every detail.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: Like a shaggy dog story, my way meandered back and forth between Germany and Atlanta. Coming here first to study, I soon fell in love with America and finally came to stay.

Do you know your story? What is the yarn that ties it all together? For me, design makes our stories tangible in images and color. Good design is arresting and meaningful because it knows its place and story.
