SUMMER ROADTRIP

In case you haven’t heard, I spent the past 2 weeks in Buffalo, NY beginning my master’s program in Creative Studies. The program focuses on development and understanding of creative problem solving, leadership and facilitation skills.  (Good stuff… right?) MORE

GIRLY ESSENTIALS TO MOMMY NECESSITIES

(click to zoom into my bag)

I wasn’t always a bag person.

I even had to be convinced as a teenager to give up my wallet for a purse. Now I have quite the collection! So as I  browsed the internet, I saw an image of an amazing Prada purse I “needed” but couldn’t spend the hundreds to own it. MORE

WHEN IN ROME, DO AS THE ROMANS DO…

(click to zoom into my bag)

Now that we are inspecting our bags, I realize that I have had this bag for about 9 – 10 years! But it was love at first sight, so in my eyes the bag still looks as good to me as it did the first time I saw it in the window of a small shop in the middle of Rome, Italy. MORE

A GREAT REBRANDING

Many brands that are fortunate enough to have longevity, find themselves in need of a facelift or rebrand every 5 – 10 years or so.  The reasons are varied– sometimes it’s because the company has changed direction or focus; other times it might just be a need for a modern refresh to an outdated look and feel.  Take a look below at what I consider to be a powerful example of  “Before + After” rebranding. HAS THE DIGITAL AGE SMOTHERED TRUE CREATIVE TALENT?

As the digital age places the tools once reserved for the few into the hands of the many what will become of our culture? Will true talent still rise to the top or will it be lost amongst the masses?

Some may say that this is a bleak look at our civilizations’ creative future and take the opposing stance that finally previously undiscovered talent is being found. Thank you Scooter Braun for Justin Beiber! MORE

CAN I TOUCH IT?

I was an odd child. My mom often recounts finding floral beads, marbles, smooth rocks, fake decorative grapes (from those fake fruit displays), and so much more in my pockets at the end of each day—wondering where in the heck it all came from.  At the time, I just knew that I liked the way those things felt in my hand. I know…weird… don’t judge.

I have recently realized that I still have this same overwhelming attraction to these smooth, round shapes– but instead of picking up random things from God knows where— it now plays out with the packaging that I am drawn to and the products that I purchase. It’s made me wonder about the roles that shape  and “touchability” play in packaging.

THEY SHOULD’VE HAD A PROOF READER

Some of the product names and descriptions are a little too literal and others are a very bad interpretation of the English language. They’re all very funny but I think they should consider a proof reader next time.

THE GRATITUDE TREND

We live in a society in which taking things for granted is a daily occurrence. Our hectic lives often stop us from slowing down to smell the proverbial flowers. It is this very problem that has added to high stress levels, depression and negative thinking. A simple way to combat this is through writing daily gratitudes. A simple practice that takes a few minutes a day but in return can provide some amazing results. MORE

THAT’S A BIG TWINKIE

I’ve never had a Twinkie. I thought I’d get that out there at the very beginning of this blog post. Twinkies were never sold in the UK, so as a child the only contact I had with these small packets of sweaty trans fat heaven were on the silver screen.

PHOTOSHOP BLUNDERS

The naked eye can notice that something just isn’t right with that image… keep looking and you’ll eventually realize the error someone made in Photoshop. I recently found these really funny mistakes people made while Photoshopping for magazines, promotions and product examples.
