SYLVIA KAY — BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

At unitOne, I’m always on a mission to discover new opportunities and open the horizons for fresh thoughts and procedures.

Born in former East Germany, I spent most of my childhood as a singer in the world-renowned “Gewandhaus zu Leipzig” choir under conductor Kurt Masur. In 1989, I joined the weekly “Monday Demonstrations” that helped bring the communist regime to its knees – and gave my live a new direction.

Soon after the wall came down, I shouldered my back pack and embarked on a year-long journey to explore the world while managing to live on 10 dollars per day. I hitchhiked through South Africa, bicycled along giraffes in Kenya, dreamed colors in India, got magically healed in Indonesia, picked a lot of apples in New Zealand, lived with the wallabies in Australia, found it way too expensive in Tahiti and finally ran out of money in the United States.

Back in Germany, I finished my diploma in Political Science, Business Administration and International Law and worked as a PR and Trade Show Consultant in Leipzig, Munich, Moscow, St. Petersburg, San Francisco and, finally, Atlanta. Here, I got my feet wet in several feature film productions as well.

I speak English, German and Russian, and just started to learn French. I love to listen to people’s life stories and am always curious to learn about their cuisine.

In 2010, I discovered my latest passion: designing silver jewelry with minimalistic design and unconventional forms that reflect simplicity and beauty.
